Week 1

This week Ryan went to the mandatory senior design meeting. Also Edwin was able to get all sensors, except the servo motor, working.

Week 2

Ryan and Edwin met with Professor Ejaz and we looked over if we were still on track with our proposal deadline. Almost everything lined up as of this moment. It was a short meeting with little to discuss at this point. We left the meeting with the goal of getting the components working on the Arduino.

Week 3

We met with professor Ejaz after our Advanced application class. The topics that we discussed were if we were on schedule with our timeline we wrote about in the proposal class, and we were. Also, we spoke about having issues with our servo motor. The motor was acting funny and we could not figure it out.

Week 4

This week we had very little to speak about since our servo motor had died. However, right before it died we were able to get video of the car parallel parking. Professor Ejaz was curious to why the speed of the car would change constantly while backing up, but just was just issues with our code. we mentioned that we already had ordered the new servo motors and they should be there installed by the end of the week.

Week 5

This week we had more videos to show. We showed that the car is now smoothly parallel parking into a space and that we are now working on reverse parking. We also mentioned that our servo situation is much better now. Edwin went to Skycraft and was able to find a servo motor with metal teeth as opposed to plastic teeth.

Week 6

This week we had a very short meeting. It was just displaying the videos of our progress with the parallel parking scenario as well as talking about how to go about writing the report. Which will be more of a focus next week since we are making decent progress with our code.

Week 7

This week was another short meeting because we had just finished with a test. We quickly showed the new update to the parking procedure which made for a much smoother steering motion for the car. Professor Ejaz mentioned to us it would be nice if the car would slow down as the car approached an object. That is something that we will work on for the future. We mentioned that we would like to wrap up the parallel parking procedure next week.

Week 8

Talked with professor Ejaz about the issue we were running into with our timer in our program. Basically the car would work the majority of the time, however when the batteries discharged, only a little, the car would move at a much slower pace which would cause issues with the timer in our code. We mentioned we were looking at getting some sort of speed sensor so the car would not be timer based, but distance based while finding the right spot.

Week 9

Spoke to Professor Ejaz about the new speed sensor we purchased and that it has been working fairly well. We showed him the car parking in the reverse perpendicular mode and it worked well. It just needs to back up a little more to fully fit in the space.

Week 10

Met with professor ejaz after class to let him know that we had almost finished our perpendicular parking procedure. We let him know that we were working on a bluetooth application to communicate with SELFIE, and that should be done by the end of next week. Also we are trying to implement a color sensor, which we will hopefully be done with in Two weeks. We have also been working on the report, slowly, but after next week the pace will begin to pick up on the report since the majority of the code will be complete.

Week 11

Demonstrated SELFIE to Professor Ejaz on Tuesday. Other than having issues with a battery connection popping off, the parking procedure was a success. Professor Ejaz said that we should get done with the color sensors, but not to add anything else after that since we are getting close to the end. We talked about the garage parking procedure. Ideally we wanted to have the car be able to send a signal to a garage door, and open it, before trying to park. Professor Ejaz said not to worry about that aspect right now and just focus on getting all the scenarios parking.

Week 12

Met with Ejaz. Showed him SELFIE again, it worked well this time without the battery connection problems. Agreed to meet with him next week in the classroom we will be doing our presentation in.

Week 13

We met in the classroom that we will be doing the presentation in. Tested SELFIE on the carpet and he worked great. After class we met with Ejaz in his office to show him how it worked. He thought it successfully demonstrated what we attempted to accomplish. We agreed to send him a Final draft of our report on Wednesday.

Week 14

Went to Ejaz's office to make sure we did not need to do sub sections to our Appendicies. He mentioned we would be fine just leaving it with Appendix A-K for our code segments. We mentioned that we would interoffice mail our report to his mailbox by Thursday of this week
